The Long Island Wine Council has put together a great series of video profiles of the people who make some of the great wines on the North and South Forks of Long Island. The Long Island winemaker we would like to highlight this week is Juan Micieli-Martinez of Martha Clara Vineyards.
Though he was born in Mexico, Juan has spent most of his life on the East End of Long Island. He left the Island to attend school in upstate New York and spent a year in the wine industry in Australia. But virtually all of his post-college life has been spent on the East End making wine and beer for a number of names you would easily recognize. (You can see his a more detailed bio on the Martha Clara website.
Juan discusses his background and his relationship with food, wine and his mother on the Wine Council’s video. We look forward to featuring one of Juan’s wines as a monthly selection soon.
