New York State Named
Wine Region of the Year

Each year, Wine Enthusiast magazine — the highly regarded publication and web site — selects their wine region of the year. Wine Enthusiast selects from wine producing regions around the world. This year the competition was extremely fierce: wine regions from France, California, Italy, and Washington were among the nominees. But the State of New York — and Long Island — prevailed as this year’s winner.

Adam Strum, Publisher and Editor of Wine Enthusiast Magazine had this to say about the winning region:

“The New York wine industry has made a remarkable comeback in the past 30 years in terms of quality of wines, number of wineries, and economic impact…making New York one of the most vibrant and promising wine regions of the world.”

The growth, success and quality of the many wineries in the region are further proof that these wines can compete with any region in the world today.  In fact, Long Island’s Channing Daughters Winery was nominated as The Winery of the Year; the winner of that award will be announced in short order. It certainly appears that the future for New York/Long Island wines is primed for continued success.

Congratulations to all of the great wineries and winemakers who made this award possible.  We feel fortunate to be working with you.
